Comment on recent research regarding seating position

November 29th 2006: British Chiropractic Association comments on recent published research by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) regarding seating posture.
The research describes how sitting in an upright position places unnecessary strain on the back and that the angle of 135 degrees was demonstrated to be the best biomechanical sitting position.
BCA chiropractor Rishi Loatey commented “This research is interesting, but what chiropractors would see as the most important aspect here is not only the angle a person is seated at, but also how that seating angle is 'applied'. When sitting at a desk, there are a number of factors to consider; angle of seat, height of seat, height of computer screen versus eye level, how the legs and feet are positioned, activity required by person (e.g. telephone reaching, typing) etc. For more information, click here:
